Class Auditions for the 2024-2025
School Year are Here!
Please view the information below for further guidance:
- Auditions will take place on March 13th and 14th after school. An official sign-up will be sent out by 2/26.
- Auditions are only required for students interested in joining either symphonic band or wind ensemble. Students interested in percussion ensemble or concert band are not required to audition.
- Auditions will consist of the following:
- Prepared etude excerpt (attachments below)
- 2 two octave major scales of the student's choosing
- A chromatic scale up and down demonstrating the student's full range
- A short sight-reading excerpt
- Students will have 1 minutes to look through the excerpt before playing it. They may NOT play during that minute. They can airplay or finger through sections as needed.
- Students must complete the above within 9 minutes.
Required Prepared Etudes

- You may use the chromatic scale provided. Alternatively, you can use the one titled "Full-Range Chromatic Scale" in your Foundations for Superior Performance Book.
- Your major scales are your choice. You must choose two to play in two octaves. It can be memorized, or you can bring the scale music with you.
- When you come to the audition, you will bring your etude music with you. Note names may not be written in.
